FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions About Woxu
General FAQ
What do I need to deploy Woxu UWB RTLS?

Woxu UWB RTLS consists of three core components:

1)  High-precision ultra-wideband trackers—tags—which emit signals used to calculate their positions;

2)  Signal-reception and control devices—anchors—which receive tag signals and can downstream commands to adjust tag operation;

3)  The Location Engine, whose primary tasks are to process the tag-signal data collected by anchors and convert it into accurate position and status information, and to systematically control the operating state of all anchors and tags, guaranteeing full manageability of the RTLS hardware fleet.

What is required for indoor positioning?

Positioning is always relative to fixed infrastructure elements—anchors, i.e. ruggedised ultra-wideband antennas. Any deployment requires a minimum of four anchors for accurate positioning. UWB tags—high-precision ultra-wideband trackers—are attached to the objects you need to track. We evaluate your RTLS requirements to secure a fast ROI and provide, free of charge, every element needed to kick-start the solution, including a pre-configured positioning server.

How much does Woxu UWB RTLS cost?

Costs cover anchor, tag and gateway hardware; volume discounts are available. The Location Engine is sold at a standard price, and we also offer basic application-layer software in both standard and customised editions. Customisation is quoted after a development assessment based on customer requirements. Please contact us  for a detailed project quotation.

Building on this, Woxu's next-generation portfolio fuses BLE to satisfy deployments demanding both high-precision and room-level accuracy in one project. For large outdoor areas we integrate GNSS-enabled smart tags that retain indoor UWB accuracy while adding outdoor GPS positioning with seamless hand-over.
What is the implementation process and what services does Woxu provide?

Step 1—Anchor layout design based on drawings (service provided by Woxu).

Step 2—Installation according to layout and on-site constraints (remote guidance available).

Step 3—Software commissioning with online training and Q&A within five working days.

Step 4—Should third-party development be required, online technical support is supplied.

How long does it take to install the RTLS?

Duration depends on the number of anchors and installation personnel. Anchor deployment is similar to CCTV: using a switch for both networking and power is the most reliable and convenient method. Taking Woxu's minimal system (four anchors) as an example, installation and commissioning can be completed in about 30 minutes, excluding cabling time.

How many anchors does my facility need?

Woxu RTLS typically requires one anchor every 30 m in open areas. For complex environments we can calculate the exact anchor count based on floor plans and customer requirements, and supply an installation reference map to guide on-site work.

Can I deploy Woxu software without dedicated developers?

Absolutely. Our team is committed to getting you operational in days or weeks—not months. The software offers an intuitive interface; nearly every parameter can be configured or modified through the UI itself.

Must I buy Woxu software? Can it integrate with third-party tools?

1)If you only need real-time location and historical of tracked objects, Woxu's standard platform is sufficient.

2)If you wish to correlate location data with your own business logic, simply consume the Location Engine's data—we supply full custom APIs.

3)Should some features prove too complex to build, you may opt for custom development on top of our standard platform; we conduct a requirement assessment and then deliver the complete software plus all necessary APIs.

Which country certifications does the Woxu system hold?

Woxu RTLS hardware has been certified under CE, FCC, SRRC and Telec regulations, as well as Korea's KCC scheme. Explosion-protection approvals include Ex ia I Ma, Ex ib IIC T6 Gb and Ex ib IIIC T80 °C Db. Should you require additional regional or statutory certifications, we will actively support customers in completing the necessary conformity processes.

Technical FAQ
What technology does Woxu use?

Woxu hardware employs Ultra-Wideband (UWB) for indoor positioning. UWB is designed to transmit information across a very wide bandwidth. Its large channel bandwidth and short pulses allow signals to be captured with extremely high temporal accuracy, yielding exceptional stability and making UWB ideal for centimetre-level positioning (accuracy ≤ 10 cm). The Woxu platform can ingest data from multiple positioning technologies and fuse them into actionable real-time location information.

Which positioning technologies does Woxu support?

Woxu utilises UWB, BLE, GNSS, IMU and more—UWB being the primary technology—while new-generation devices offer fused multi-technology options.

What are anchors and tags?

A Woxu positioning solution comprises, at minimum, two parts: anchors—ruggedised ultra-wideband antennas—and UWB tags—high-precision ultra-wideband trackers. Anchors are modules with fixed, known coordinates. Tags are mobile devices whose location you wish to know. Anchors remain static (their relative positions are constant), whereas tags are dynamic. Anchors can be likened to satellites in a GPS constellation; tags resemble the GPS receiver in a vehicle.

What accuracy does UWB deliver?

Under line-of-sight (LOS) conditions Woxu achieves 10 cm accuracy. In non-line-of-sight (NLOS) environments accuracy is typically 10–30 cm, depending on the type and amount of obstructing material. For precise tracking, at least four anchors are required for 2-D positioning; for 3-D positioning we recommend a minimum of six anchors at different heights. Additional anchors improve robustness against obstacles and extend coverage.

How many tags can Woxu UWB RTLS handle?

The UWB RTLS can track an almost unlimited number of ultra-precise objects and is highly scalable. Note, however, that on our standard gateway the aggregate update rate is limited to 5,000 positions per second. Thus, with 5,000 tags the maximum update rate per tag would be 1 Hz. In practice this limit is rarely reached because tags automatically reduce their update rate when stationary.

Will Woxu interfere with Bluetooth or other RF technologies?
